What is Hebrew:
Hebrew is classified as a Semitic language, the state language of Israel, the language of some Jewish communities; an ancient form of Hebrew is the cult language of Judaism. Hebrew was
revived as a spoken language for the Jewish people in Israel and when the state of Israel was established as an independent nation in 1948, Hebrew became the official language and, Hebrew became once again the native language of the Hebrew people. Modern Hebrew, based on the biblical language, contains many innovations designed to meet contemporary needs; it is the only spoken language based on a written language.
