Saber
Saber plus an infinitive means to know how to do something, a learned skill: saber nadar, saber conduzir. It contrasts with poder, which is permission or opportunity, and with conhecer, which is being acquainted with a person or place. Sei nadar mas não posso means I know how to swim but I am not allowed to.
